Hello! I’m Suzie and I’m a Type 1 diabetic illustrator and art and yoga teacher from London based in Melbourne, Australia. My creative career began at the age of ten when I started making and selling beaded jewellery, which later inspired me to study jewellery design at Uni. After a few years of working as a jewellery designer and maker, I packed up and moved to Australia where I am now very grateful to live with my lovely husband, our beautiful son, and our energetic dog.
I create playful and heartfelt illustrations that are heavily influenced by the natural world, nostalgia, motherhood and slow living, using a variety of mediums. The ultimate intention for my art is to encourage and support a more mindful life through rituals and activities guided by self-care, kindness and compassion. Each piece is made with an abundance of love and gratitude.
I’m happiest with a drawing or clay tool in my hand, music in my ears, a cup of coffee by my side and palo santo swirling around me. When I’m not drawing, teaching or practicing yoga, you’ll find me teaching primary school visual art, or working on my passion project Type One Writers – a worldwide penpal club for people living with Type 1 diabetes.
